High‐pressure synthesis, crystal structure, and properties of a novel quadruple perovskite CeMn <sub>3</sub> Rh <sub>4</sub> O <sub>12</sub>

A novel transition metal oxide CeMn3Rh4O12 has been synthesized using high-pressure and high-temperature conditions of 12 GPa 1573 K. crystallizes in the AA'3B4O12-type quadruple perovskite structure with A-site ordering a cubic space group Im 3 ¯ $\bar 3$ phase at above 310 K, whereas undergoes structural symmetry lowering down to probable triclinic on cooling below this temperature. X-ray absorption spectroscopy reveals that all constituent ions are trivalent room temperature, suggesting valence state Ce3+Mn3+3Rh3+4O12. Magnetization study demonstrates an antiferromagnetic attributed A'-site Mn3+ TN = 35 Curie–Weiss analysis finds additional paramagnetic component Ce3+ 4f1 ions. We discuss differences magnetic properties between LaMn3Rh4O12, eventually proposing possible stereochemical effect crystal perovskite.
